This course was designed for anyone who wants to learn QuickBooks Online.  Whether you signed up simply to learn more about QuickBooks Online or you are a complete newbie to the software does not matter.   We will teach you the software from beginning to end so that anyone, regardless of experience, learns all that they need to know to successfully use the program.

This course, QuickBooks Online offers a comprehensive curriculum of results-oriented training that empower participants to apply tools and techniques learned in this session, to meet the challenges they face every day. While this course combines a solid theoretical foundation with numerous practical examples and, extensive hands-on training exercises that have been designed to put the theory into practice, you will find it enjoyable.  There are over fifty hands on exercises.

Lesson 1:  New Company Setup
In this lesson you will learn how to create a new company.  You will learn how to get started by importing list information, customizing the settings for your company and other important tasks such as setting up sales tax, and adding new users.  Setting up is easy to do and QuickBooks guides you through the process.

Lesson 2:  Getting Around QuickBooks Online
In this lesson, you will learn where the tasks, transactions and functions are located in QuickBooks Online, and how to get around the software.

  • How to create new transactions
  • What buttons and fields do on transactions

Lesson 3:  Customers and Sales Part 1
In this lesson, you will learn how to find new customers and make sales is a critical component of every small business.  You will understand how to working with customers is an important part of QuickBooks. You will discover important steps to work with customers and sales workflows.

In this lesson you’ll learn the following:

  • How to set up new customers
  • How to set up products and services
  • Creating sales transactions including invoices and sales receipts
  • Receiving customer payments and making deposits
  • Basic customer reporting

 

Lesson 4:  Suppliers and Expenses Part 1
Keeping track of all your small business expenses is a critical part of your bookkeeping in QuickBooks. QuickBooks lets you track all different types of expense transactions including bills, checks, debit card credit cards and more. This lesson will help you discover how to track your expenses effectively in QuickBooks.

In this chapter, you’ll learn:

  • How to set up suppliers
  • Tracking Accounts Payable vs. Expenses and Cheques
  • Expense workflows and when to use each transaction type
  • How expenses entered affect financial statements

 

Lesson 5:  Company Activities Part 1
In this chapter, you’ll about how QuickBooks is built using lists and transactions. You’ll learn more about the importance of lists and how to manage them to keep your business information organized.

In this chapter, you’ll learn how to:

  • Manage your customer and supplier lists
  • Work with your Chart of Accounts
  • Add fixed asset accounts and purchase fixed assets
  • Edit, merge and work with list entries

 

Lesson 6:  Banking in QuickBooks Online
The Banking Centre in QuickBooks is the central location for managing your day-to-day banking transactions downloaded from your bank and credit card accounts. QuickBooks includes a powerful feature referred to as the “Bank Feed”. In other words you can connect your online bank and credit card account directly to your QuickBooks.

Instead of manually entering your QuickBooks transactions, you can download and add them directly to QuickBooks.

 

After adding all of your credit card and bank account transactions you’ll use the powerful bank reconciliation feature in QuickBooks. This chapter introduces you to these powerful features.

Lesson 7:  Customers and Sales Part 2
In this chapter, you’ll learn how QuickBooks handles advanced features and transactions in the area of sales and customers. In addition to basic sales invoices, sales receipts there are advanced transactions to help you manage sales in QuickBooks.

  • Use advanced options on sales transactions
  • Credits and Refunds

  • Delayed Charges & Delayed Credits

  • Invoicing & Reimbursable Expenses

Lesson 8:  Suppliers and Expenses Part 2

In this chapter, you’ll learn how QuickBooks handles additional expense related transactions. These transactions add to the transactions you learned about in Chapter 4.

In this chapter, you’ll learn how to:

  • Enter Credit Card transactions
  • Credit card payments
  • Supplier credits
  • Voiding and Deleting supplier transactions
  • Recurring transactions

 

Lesson 9:  QuickBooks Online Payroll
When you use QuickBooks Online you can track your small business accounting. You can track sales, expenses and manage all your day-to-day transactions.

As you grow, QuickBooks Online lets you manage your company payroll.

You can add employees, track time, and pay employees using cheques or via direct deposit. You can track and pay your payroll liabilities and create year-end forms like T4’s and Records of Employment.

QuickBooks lets you manage all of your payroll needs directly within in QuickBooks Online.

In this chapter, you’ll learn how QuickBooks handles inventory. You can use QuickBooks to track the items you keep in inventory and sell to your customers. If your business purchases or makes items for resale, keeps them in inventory, and then sells them, QuickBooks can track quantities on hand and the value of your inventory after every purchase and sale.

  • Order and receive inventory using Purchase orders

Lesson 11:  Reports in QuickBooks
In this chapter, you’ll learn how QuickBooks helps you find information in your business.

  • Customize reports using filters
  • Customize report views including columns
  • Save customized reports
  • Export reports to .pdf or Excel formats

 

Lesson 12:  Company Activities Part 2
In this chapter, you’ll learn how QuickBooks handles advanced transactions and tasks in

QuickBooks. Growing businesses need additional features and functions to manage the new tasks they’re required to manage. You’ll learn how QuickBooks handles the year-end and what tasks you’ll need perform.

 

In this chapter, you’ll learn how to:

  • Customize form templates
  • Setting for communicating with customers
  • Setup and use class tracking
  • Setup budgets
  • File annual sales tax return
  • Enter year-end journal entries

This course is designed for individuals who already have some work experience but lack formal training and would like to expand their opportunities. The objective of this program is to equip participants with the knowledge required to get the most from QuickBooks Online. Upon completion participants will master the skills necessary to function at a high level in the QuickBooks Online product.
